An exciting departure for the Hillcrest Cinema into science fiction, but there are no aliens, no fantasy, just a man with a scientific mind fighting for survival. Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) becomes stranded on Mars after his team assume him dead, and must rely on his ingenuity to find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. He is facing up to an existence likely to be lonely and very short. His best chance of rescue is four years away and there are only enough supplies for six months. But when the going gets tough, the tough start farming – a job that’s easier said than done, given the red planet’s surface is too sterile to grow anything edible. Highly recommended.
